ATTACK ON TOLMINO. ; EFFECT OF GAS BOMBS. ROME, Sept. 12. A communique' says:—An Italian detachment, by a spirited- bayonet attack, seized portion of the enemy trenches on the Santa Maria heights in the Tolmino sector, but owing to heavy artillery fire, asphyxiating gas bombs, and jets of burning liquid, they returned to their own trenches. AMSTERDAM, Sept. 10. An Austrian dispatch says;—We repulsed tho Italians at Tolmino bridgehead with heavy losses. A hostile torpedo boat torpedoed one of onr torpedo boats, which reached port with . damaged bows.
