OTAGO DEFEATS CANTERBURY*. PER PRESS ASSOCIATION. DUNEDIN, Sept. 4. The return match between Otago and Canterbury was played to-day in perfect weather, in the presence of about 1500 spectators. A good exhibition was given in the first spell, but both sides tired in the second halt. Otago won by 30 points to 3. WELLINGTON MATCHES. WELLINGTON, Sent. 4. In the semi-final for the Rugby senior championship Petono beat Athletic by 24 to nil. These teams are level, and play off in a fortnight. The public schools Rugby tournament began to-day, when Pctone High School beat AVelliugton public schools team by 19 to 14, and Wanganui schools team beat Manawatu by 9 to nil. AUCKLAND MATCHES. AUCKLAND, Sent. 5. Rugbv.—Marist Bros. Old Boys defeated College Rifles by 4 to nil in the play-off for the senior grado competition, and thus become champions for tbe 1915 season. League.—Thames representatives defeated Auckland, at Thames, by 25 points to 13. Association.—The. final for the Falcon Cup resulted in a tie between Brotherhood and Evorton, each team scoring two goals.
