At tho Supreme Court in chambers to-day, a. motion for probate in the will of Malcolm Hugh Campbell, a trooper, who had died on a troopship leaving New Zealand, came before Mr. Justice Cornier. His Honour stated that he had no proof of death. All tho proof before him was a signed statement by a military officer, stating tliat tho trooper had died at sea. flow could this officer know whether the man had died or not? His Honour added he had already suggested that tho judges should hold a conference a'nd determine what proof of death was necessary. The matter was important, as they could expect a good many deaths of New Zealanders while tho war lasted, and it was essential that they should have absolute proof of death. His Honour adjourned tho motion until proof of death had been supplied. ____________
