WELLINGTON SEASON OPENS. rm PRESS ASSOCIATION. WELLINGTON. April 25. The football season opened yesterday with a seven-asido tourney in aid of the injured players' fund. The weather was ideal, and the large attendance was treated to some good bits of play, but tile ground was hard after the long dry spell, and most of the players tired perceptibly before the games ended. Athletic A won the senior competition, beating Potone A in the final by 10 to nil. Athletic scored 61 [mints, only one team—Oriental A—registering any score (5 points) against them. In the fifth-class contest Wellington College beat Petono in the final by 5 to nil.
THE ENGLISH CUP FINAL. ' BT ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH.—COPYRIGHT. LONDON, April 25. Sixty thousand were present at the final at Manchester. The match resulted in Sheffield United beating Chelsea by 5 goals to 0. PROPOSED NEW BOUNDARIES. . At a meeting of delegates of the Taranaki Rugby Union hold at Stratford on Wednesday night, there were present: Messrs. K. Nalder (Hawora, who was voted to the chair), P. Skoglund, B. Fearon (Kaponga), J. Gillick, G. Morrison (Eastern Sub-union). A. Smith (Inglewood), C. Jackson (Stratford). A. Hansen (Eltham), D. Ryan (Mnnaifi)i The business was consideration of the proposed new boundaries, . Mr. Skoglund -said Stratford Club was quite satisfied with- the boundaries of their district, and it-depended whethfr the Eastern Districts and the Inglewood Chib worn satisfied. Mr. Gillick (Eastern Districts) said his club were agreeable to accept the boundaries recommended.
There was, however, considerable discussion about the boundary between Stratford and Inglewood. Air. Smith said the proposed boundary would out out Tariki from Inglewood, and gave it to Stratford, which was. most unfair. Tariki was the mainstay of Inglewood, and by taking away Tariki they took about eighteen players from Inglewood. It meant the killing of the Inglewood Club.
Mr. Jackson said he did not want it to be thought that Stratford Club wanted to hurt the Inglewood Club. Stratford was only asking for a fair share. The boundary under consideration was recommended at the meeting of rite Stratford Club, and he had spoken against taking in Tariki for the reason that it would spoil Inglewood. An agreement was arrived at. and the following boundaries in the norther i division were accepted :
Stratford,—Eastern,, from Kahouri Bridge up Bcaeonsiield Road to Stanley Hoad, along that road to Croydon Road, both sides of these roads.
