Tho Australasian Coal and Shale Employees* Association, representing an amalgamation of the coalmining unions throughout the eastern States, has been launched. Later it is proposed to extend its activities to Westralia and Ncw ; Zealand. Tho whole of the south coast mines are idle to-day to enable tho men to discuss the arrest of a number of wheelers for non-payment of fines and other grievances. The position is regarded as critical.
