FIRES.
OUTBREAK AT SUNNYSIDB. rm PRESS ASSOCIATION. CHRISTCHURGH, March 26. There was an outbreak of fire in the women’s word at Snnnyside Asylnm. It was discovered at 9.50. A patient’s scream attracted Dr. Gow, who gave the alarm. All the patients were removed without a hitch, hot thair effects were destroyed. At midday the fire was confined to ■'tho women’s ward. Later. The firoin the asylum was discovered in the attic by Nurse Bennett, who rang the bell alarms. The Fire Brigade was cm the scene from the city in seven minutes. The fire was confined to one wing of the women’s ward and is now extinguished, leaving the whole wing gutted. It is believed the causo of tho fire was a spark entering a ventilator. The same portion of the building was burnt 25 years ago.
