IN BANKRUPTCY.

THE AFFAIRS OF A. KLENNER. (From Our Waitara Correspondent.) A meeting of the creditors of A. Klenner was hold on Wednesday, the Deputy Official Assignee presiding. The’ Deputy Official Assignee asked for particulars regarding a Harbour Board lease in which the bankrupt had an interest, and which Mr. T. Wilson had agreed to purchase for £215. Mr. Stead stated that the purchase had not been completed, owing to a disagreement between the parties. Sir. Newton King hold that .Mr. Klenner ought not to have attempted tho sale of tho lease privately, and moved that tho lease be now sold by auction, which was seconded by Mr. Birdling. Mr. C. E. Gaustad understood that the Harbour Board had sanctioned the transfer, provided the arrears of rent were paid. On being put to the meeting, Mr. King’s motion was carried. Tho D.O.A. stated that Mr. Topless had a bill of sale over some of the business plant, which he had seized, and which would be put up for auction. Tbo bankrupt said that there was a security of £ll2 on 30 Jersey heifers, and the D.O.A. was instructed to realise these. Tho homo and shop properties were said to bo mortgaged almost to their full value. Mr. King had also a second mortgage of £IOSO in connection with these and trading accounts. lleplying to Mr. King; with reference to a discrepancy in his trading accounts. the bankrupt explained that the discrepancy arose from tho fact that he hud paid Ids miik_ cheques to the creditors’ account. M ith the exception of £lO paid to Mr. Birdling Imbalance of stock, and £8 IQs to Jlr. Knuckcy fo ni dishonoured cheque, he had paid nothing else. With regard to his household furniture, it was decided to leave the matter over till tho next meeting, to see how the other assets pan out.
