WEST END SCHOOL.
Tho monthly meeting of tho West End school was held on Friday. Present; Messrs. Morrison (chairman), Greiner, Hurdwidgo, Dearo, Brokonshiro and Thomson (secretary). The head teacher’s monthly report showed that tho attendance wits steadily increasing, having now reached 436, with an average attendance since the beginning of tho year of 400.5. The secretary was instructed to obtain the necessary labour to grade the playground before tho wet weather sets in. Tho restricted amount of playground and tho increasing attendance were discussed, and it was decided to try and get sufficient land to have tho ground enlarged, as tho Hon. tho Minister for Education had suggested on his recent visit to New Plymouth. It was decided to interview the manager of tho Red Post with tho object of bolding a cinematograph entertainment in aid of the school funds. Tho following donations to tho prize fund were received;—Mr. Morrison 10s, Air. L. Keith ss, Friend 2s 6d, Air. and Airs. Alexander £l. H.E.AV. 10s, Air. T. Furlong ss, Air. Van do Water ss, Air. G. Bary ss, Airs. Rea 2s, Mr. Greiner silver watch and chain and two gold brooches, Air. Maunder eight books, Air. T. Avery two books, Airs. J. T. White ono book, Rev. G. T. Robson Biblo and three Testaments, Airs. Barnes, one book, Mrs. Watkins one book. Airs. Hurlo ono book, Airs. Blanchard ono hook and a doll, Air. Blanchard six games, Mrs. H. J. White two books.
