RIFLE SHOOTING.

NEW PLYMOUTH CLL’B v. B COMPANY. On the Rowa Rewa range.on Saturday afti?i noon the New Plymouth Defence Rifle Club’s Saturday tram fired a match with the B Company. 11th Regiment. Tho weather was fine, but r. rear fishtail wind troubled ihe riflemen at both ranges, Tho wind flags had to bo very carefully watched, as tho wind would chop from right to left very quickly. As a consequence ‘'magpies" and oven “outers’’ crept into I nearly every score-card. The light was excellent at the 300 yards range. It was here also that millions of thistle seeds drifting with the wind helped tho riflemen very materially in gouging the wind. Tor. .score for the day (91) was .made hr Rifleman W. Slaughter, of the Rifle Club, who put on 44 at the first range and at the 500 raids range registered 47. v hich included a magpie—a good performance. Rifleman D.
