AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIPS. PEB PRESS ASSOCIATION. BLENHEIM, Feb. 16. ’The Now Zealand amateur .swimming championships opened hero this evening, under ideal conditions. Tho results are as follow; — 75 Yards Inter-club Handicap.— Levy (Wellington) 1, Bristed (Nelson) 2, Wilton (Picton) 3. AA'on with a little to spare, tho third man being well back. Sixty entries. 100 Yards Championship (holder, M. E. Champion, Auckland).- —First heat; M. E. Champion 1, Atkinson 2, Annand 3. Also started: Fordham. Time, 62 l-ssec. Second heat; Jercd 1, Sinton 2, Cookson 3. Also started: Pfankuch, Stevens and Emerson. Final; Champion (Auckland) 1, Atkinson (Opawa) 2, Sinton (AVaitematn) 3. It was Champion’s race all through, although there was not much between him and Atkinson. Tho time, 61 4-ssoc., is a Now Zealand record. 50 Yards Inter-club Ladies’ Handi-cap.—-E. O’Leary (Masterton) 1, A. O’Leary {Masterton) 2. Tho rest were well behind. Time, 42 3-ssec. High Dive.—Stevenson (Wellington) 1, Poison (Christchurch) 2. One Mile Championship (holder, M. E. Champion, Auckland). —M. E. Champion (Auckland) 1, L. Hill (Canterbury) 2. Also started: Sinton, Newraas. and Rich. Tho placed men were the only ones to finish. Champion won easily by threo lengths of the baths. Time, 25min. 57sec. Relay Race.—Christchurch officials (E. Eldridge, L. A. Rich, C. Bryant and It. Hamilton). Water Polo (holders, Canterbury).— First round: Canterbury A beat Blenheim and Nelson, by eight goals to nil.

NEW PLYMOUTH CLUB. Tho Now Plymouth Amateur Swimming Club’s competitions wore concluded on Monday night, when four races wore’ decided in tho Municipal Baths. There was a good attendance of tho public, and the races proved most exciting. Following are tho results:— Ladies’ Championship, 100 yards.— Miss ivy Hawke 1, Miss D. Hawke 2, Miss H. Jury 3. Also started: Misses G. and M. Mouatt and H. R-olio. This was a most exciting finish, the placed swimmers touching almost simultaneously. Time, Imin. 42sec. Ladies’ Scaled Handicap, 100 yards. —Miss I, Hawke (Gscc.) 1, Miss G. Mouatt (20scc.) 2, Miss H. Jury (6soc.) 3. Also started: Misses D. Hawke (scr.), H. Rollo (Csoc.) and M. Mouatt (2osec). A close finish. Time, Imin. 48scc.

This leaves Misses Ivy Hawke and G. Mouatt equal, with eight points each, in Iho points prize competition. Miss Hilda Jury coming next with six points. Mon’s Championship, half-mile. —C. Brown I, A. Bacon 2, A. V. Stohr 3. Also started :S. Hawke. Time, 16min. 47 2-ssec.

Men's Handicap, half-mile.—A. Bacon (UOseo.) 1, C. Brown (scr.) 2, A. V. Stohr (90sec.) 3. Also started: S. Hawke (ISOsec.). This leaves C. Brown club champion over the three distances, and winner of tho club’s points competition.
