STONEWALL CONTINUED. PER PRESS ASSOCIATION. WELLINGTON, September 14. Tho House resumed at 2.30 on SatMr. J. A. Hanan contended that popular lectures should he delivered on tho detriment of the over-indulgonco m tobacco and spirituous liquor and riotous living. , , Mr. T. M. Wilford said that he could congratulate Dr. Beatty on the accommodation provided at Avondale for pigs, but was sorry that he could not congratulate him on the accommodation for patients. Ho wont on to criticise mis-spelling in the report. “Is it a new disease?” asked Mr. Wilford, quoting one of the words wrongly spelt. Mr. K. H. Rhodes, tho Minister, explained that the copy was only a rough one, procured hurriedly for the benefit of members. Mr. W'ilford, continuing, said that ho was against reducing Dr. Beatty’s salary. Ho thought he should bo provided £IOOO instead of £650, and would vote against tho amendment. Tho chairman put the question for the reduction of Dr. Beatty’s salary, and it went through without opposition.

Mr. G. Laurenson then moved to report progress. Several members advocated the necessity for more out-door employment for mental hospital patients. The-discussion on these lines continued till 5.30, when the House adjourned till 7.30.

, At 11.50 Mr. Massey rose and protested against this “silly and most unreasonable stonewall.” Ho iwoceeded to review tho events of the preceding thirty hours, but was compelled to resume Ms seat on a point of order by Mr. T. M. Wilford, who asked if it were competent for the Prime Minister to review tho doings of tho House on a motion to report progress. For ten minutes Mr. Massey endeavoured to make his speech, but each time ho got started ho was interrupted with “point of order, Mr. Chairman,” until one minuto to midnight, when tho Chairman left the chair, intimating that ho would resume at 2.30 on Monday,
