A feature of to-day’s proceedings in tho pearl necklace case was tho first revelation as to how tho pearls wore stolen. /Quadranstein narrated that Gutwirth at one interview reported that the expenses in connection >. i'.’.i the enterprise totalled £2400, including £IOO each to two postmen. Ho did not mention whether they were French ‘or English. Gutwirth added that Lockett had charge of the pearls. Quadranstein also gave evidence that Gutwirth stated that Lockett was the map who snatched Goldschmidt’s hag of jewels in the Cafe Monico on July 2, 1909.
