At the annual conference of the N.Z. Farmers’ Union it was pointed out that for tho first time in tho history of the Dominion, tho export value of. tho produce of the dairy industry for the year had been greater than that of tho frozen meat trade, tho amount in favour,. qf tho former being £265,146. This’should encourage the dairy farmer to still further try and improve the quality of his herd, as only tho highest producing cows- aro worthy of a place on dairying'land. At Mr. S. R. Lancaster s sale at his homestead, Fitzherhert hast, Palmprston North, a splendid opportunity will bo offered to those interested m dairy pursuits to obtain tho highest class of cows and heifers which it is possible to procure in tho Dominion. Tho 600 head to bo offered include tho pick of a numbor of the best herds in the district, besides 100 milked on vendor’s own farms, and they aro all practically grade Jerseys and Holstoins, and in tho very best of -condition. Those in search of pedigree and high grade Jersey bulls should also make a point of attending this fixture, when they will bo able to fill their requirements from tho 30 two-year-olds to ho offered. This important sale takes place on Tuesday and Wednesday, July 29 and 30, starting first day with Jerseys at 12 noon, and following on tho second day at XI a.m. Conveyances will meet all trains, and the sale will bo conducted by Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., and the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., in conjunction, from whom catalogues may be obtained.
