BOARDING-HOUSE DESTROYED. PEE I‘EESS ASSOCIATION. MARTON, July 21. Tho Ascott hoarding-house at Huntorville, owned by Mr. Weston, and occupied- by R. Parker, was totally destroyed by firo at 1.30 this morning. Tho insurances on the building are unavailable. Parker bad £2OO on the furniture, and is a heavy losor. _ It is understood tho firo originated in the kitchen. MASTERTON HOUSE BURNED. MASTERTON, July 20. A six-i’ooined bouse owned and occupied by Robert Russell was gutted by firo at an early’ hour this morning. Russell and bis family wore absent at tho time of tho fire. Tho insurances are not available. A NARROW ESCAPE. 'WELLINGTON, July 21. Early this morning an eight-roomed shop and dwelling at Island Bay was -destroyed by fire. Mr. W. O. Wilkinson and his wife were sleeping upstairs. •The first intimation that Wilkinson had of tho firo was the flames licking his face. Ho threw his wife out of the window and then jumped out himsoif. Tho two were taken to a doctor. They wore suffering from burns on tho face and feet, and strained backs, but were, not in a serious condition. Tho building was owned by Odlin and Co., and was insured for £7OO and tho stable for £4O in tho Alliance Firo Office, and contents for £7OO in the London and Lancashire. Office and for £437 in the Guardian Office.
