ENGINEDRIVERS’ WAGES.
AND DOMINION AWARDS. Per Prers Association. WELLINGTON, July 1. A deputation representing tho Engivedrivers’ Union of New Zealand waited on the Premier to-day and urged that the Conciliation and Arbitration Act,be so amended as to provide for a Dominion award for enginedrivers. It was pointed' out that through a flaw in the existing Act enginedrivers employed in a sawmill or factory could only obtain the .maximum wages given tinder the particular award affecting their fellow-workers at tho sawmill or factory.
Air. Massey said he was prepared to grant their request respecting a Dominion award. The Bill now in the hands of the printers contain cda .clause' which ho expected would meet the requirements of the deputation.
