CHRISTCHURCH BURCLARIES.
A MAN ARRESTED.. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, June 30. The police believe that a man arrested on Saturday is responsible for the bnlglaries perpetrated in the city and suburbs. Ho has been shadowed for a fortnight. He slept in an unoccupied house, in the backyard of which a large quantity of plate was found buriod. Ho is a Canadian, who has been three years in ihe Dominion. Fourteen houses have been entered since April 29 and over £4OO worth of goods stolen. ACCUSED BEFORE THE COURT. CHRISTCHURCH, June 30. In connection with the burglary cases Arthur Thomas Reid, a young man, appeared before the Magistrate’s Court on several charges of theft of goods, chiefly jewellery, valued at £IOO, from Mrs. Hannah Pringle. Walter M. Hurston also appeared charged with breaking and entering the railway bookstall. Both accused were remanded for a -week. Bail was not allowed.
