VOGELTOWN SUNDAY SCHOOL.
SUCCESSFUL CONGEST. St. Mary's Hall was packed on Friday evening, when 'a! very successful concert was given by a number of local amateurs in aid of St. Mary's Vogel- i town Sunday School Building Fund, which should benefit very considerably.: i’J] The concert opened with a pianoforte solo by Miss Beryl Hirst, who played the Military Polonaise in A (Chopin). j Miss Hirst also gaye “Lcreloy” by Seeling, and several other pieces. The Vogeltown Sunday school cluldren next < rendered a much appreciated item, in which Ettle Mieses Christie Sinclair, 1 Marjorie Alldridge and Ruth Eva re- ; cited. The children then gave the nursery f song “Sing a song for sixpence,” the,i) accompaniments throughout being sym- ; pathetically play ed by Master Ken Seal, ' The Misses Gilbert gave the duct “Awake,” while songs were rendered : by Miss Lcitch “The Island of Dreams,” Messrs. J. Asher “The Veteran’s j Song,” and 'Fredericks "Boses.” St. . Mary’s Scouts were seen to advantage i in the farce, “A Helping Hand,” while . St. Mary’s Gymnasium Club gave splen- I did displays of gymnastics and dumb-bell exercises. Undoubtedly the greatest hit i of the evening was scored in the far- 1 deal comedy “Between the soup and the Savoury,” in which Misses God-' ; , frey (cook), Colvile (maid) and D. Bed- f ford (soulfery-raaid) i took part. There i was something quite pathetic in the i sonllery-maid’s tale of woe. The many \ enthusiastic ladies and gentlemen' who.. | worked so hard to insure the success of the entertainment are to be con- j gratulated on the gratifying resuits ob- 1 tained on Friday. i
