Tho Pharmacy Board of New Zealand, in a letter to tho president of tho Newspaper Proprietors’ Association, asks that the names of poisons used in suicidal poisoning cases should not bo published in newspaper reports, hut that inslvead a general term should be employed, such as “disinfectant” or "coal tar products.” , Mr. P. The institution is to be undenominational, tho only stipulation being that a hymn be sung and, the Lord’s Prayer said each evening. Children other than hospital patients may bo admitted. The value of the donation is about £2060, which bears a Government subsidy equal to about £3600., HOTEL WORKERS’ CONFERENCE. WELLINGTON, Juno 25. The Hotel Workers’ Conference concluded to-day. Tho question of extending the federations activities to districts where no awards existed, such, as Invercargill, Taranaki, Nelson, and West Coitst, was referred to the next executive to deal with,, when the promised Sbt-Dny Week Bill is disposed of by Parlistuaent. It was decided to take steps to inaugurate an Australasian Federation of Hotel YVorkers. Tho conference .-affirmed tho principle of abolition of private registry offices. It was decided ho ask tho Minister of Health to have a. stricter examination of quarters of workers and to seek tho abolition of tho living-in system.
