Hendry and Hay (E. P. Webster local agent) report the following Stock Exchange quotations and sales :-rQuotations. —Waiotahi sellers Is 9d, buyers Is 6d, Waitangi 6d and 4cl, Talisman, 39s 3d and 38s 3d, Wa-ilii 32s and; 31s 3d, Junction 16s 8d and 16s 4d, Bank of New Zealand £ll 10s and £ll 6s, New Zealand Insurance 101 s and XOOs, Booth British Insurance 73s 6d and 71s 9d. No sales. BUCKLAND AND SON. (Special to Herald.) AUCKLAND, May 1. On Thursday, April 24, at Westfield, the usual number of dairy and store cattle wore yarded, including some I'M Holstein, Jersey and Shorthorn heifers. There was a good clearance. Dairy cows and heifers brought £9 TOs to £l3 12s 6d, others £5 to £9, 18-month to 2-year-old heifers £6 10s to £lO 10s, yearling heifers £4 10s to £5 10s,. ordinary yearling to 18-month heifers £3 to £5 ss, choice Shorthorn 2-year heifers to £7, two pedigree Jersey cows £lo'lßs and 18) guineas, yearling steers £2 16s to £3 4s, forward cows £4 to £4 16s, stores £2 5s to £3 10s, calves £1 3s to £2 Is, young bulls £3 to £8 Bs. At Westfiekl, on “Wednesday, April 30, fat cattle numbering 439 were yarded and met with firm demand. Choice ox brought to £1 8s 6d, prime £1 6s to £1 7s 6d, cows and heifers £1 to £1 4s per 1001 b., steers brought £6 10s to £l3 17s 6d, cows and heifers £3 to £lO 2s 6d. Calves: Fat young calves were in excess of requirements and prices, eased, Runners brought £3 15s to £4* 11s, heavy suckers £2 to £3, medium £1 10s to £2, light £1 to £1 9s, small and fresh-dropped 3s to 8s; 127 were sold. Sheep; The mutton pens were well filled and competition for prime sheep was good. Other classes sold without alteration. Extra prime heavy wethers brought £1 “3s .to £1 4s 6d, heavy 19s 5d to £1 2s 6cl, medium to heavy 16s 6d to 19s, light and unfinished 13s to 15s 6d, extra heavy prime ewes 18s to £1 0s 3d, good 14s to ■ 17s 6d, others 9s to 13s 6cl; 1753 were sold. Lambs-.'Eat lambs were required and sold freely. Best heavy brought 18s to £1 Os 3d, good 14s to 17s (id, unfinished 10s 5d to 13s, small stores 6s 6d to 9s; 458 were sold. Pigs; Fat pigs sold steadily at high prices. Choppers brought £4 Is to £4 17s, heavy, haconers £3 10s to £4, lighter £2 18s to £8 Bs, largo porkers £2 3s to £2 15s, lighter £1 14s to £2 2s, small £1 3s to £l 11s, slips 13s to las,’well-bred winners 10s 6d to 11s 6d, others 6s to Bs, suckers 2s to ss; 223 were sold.
