TO DEPENDENT'S OF SCOUT’S PARTY. By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. LONDON, April 29. Mr. Asquith will ask Parliament: Firstly, for Lady Scott, apart from the Admiralty’s annuity of £2OO for herself and £25 for her son until 18 years of ago, an annuity of £100; secondly, for Captain Scott’s mother and sisters, a joint annuity of £300; for Dr. Wilson’s widow and sister-in-law. a joint annuity of £300; I’otty-oflicer Evans’s widow, apart from the Admiralty’s X3s 6d a week, 12s 6d and 3s for each child until 18 years of age. The Government of India will provide for Lieutenant Bowers’ relatives a joint pension of £IOO. STATEMENT BY MR. ASQUITH. (Received May 1, "8 a.m.) ' LONDON, April 30. Air. Asquith, in a letter to the Lord Mayor announcing the proposed annuities, said that those were the result of the Government’s undertaking to provide for tho relatives of members of Scott’s party, while they allowed of equitable augmentation from the Mansion House fund.
Newspapers state that Captain Oates’ relatives are not mentioned. Captain, Oates was a bachelor with an ample fortune, but a portion of the subscriptions will bo applied to the erection of a suitable memorial.
