Ho "'as entertained at lunch at the Canadian 1 Club, the Lieu-tenant-Governor and Mayor being present. He made a stirring speech on .defence, stating that New Zealand would place the question above party. Discussing the Empire defence of the Pacific, he asked whether Canada was going to stand by New Zealand and Australia in their endeavour to solve the problem. The question must bo answered sooner or later.
