Tho weekly meeting of the Egmont Lodge, No. 112, was hold in tlio Good Templar Lodge Room on Monday evening, and was opened by Bro. L. Peppc'rell, P.C.T. Bio. G. H. Maunder spoke re tho democratic vote; asked for volunteers to help tho No-License League to canvass tho town to obtain . signatures to the pledge. It was pointed, out chat signing the pledge did not bind the pledger to vote tor any one candidaic nr abstain from voting, ns a candidate for Parliament would, if pressed by such a large number as it, was hoped in get, promise to vote for a substantial reduction of the three-fifths handicap. Tho Grand Lodge representative informed tho lodge that tho Grand Lodge had passed a resolution heartily approving of the pledge ami urging every member not only to sign, but also to .induce their friends and others to sign. The rest of tho evening was in tho hands of Sister 15. Connett, who provided an excellent programme, the ;o!lowing giving items:—Sis. 15. Bushden, pianoforte solo ; Bro. H. • Reid, recitation; Sis. R. RusKden, song; Sis. W. Hartnell, recitation: Sis. I. Connett, recitation : Sis. 15. Connett. recitation ; after which the lodge was closed in duo form by the P.C.T.
