HUIRANGI.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) The fortnightly euchre party and dance was held in the hall on Wednesday, May 1, and was well attended, considering the weather. The ladies’ prize was won by Miss 0. Totaro, and the men’s prize by Mr. Len Sarten. On Tuesday, April 30 the school children and a number of parents assembled to bid good-byo to Mr. A. Bullians, who was leaving to take charge of the Waihi school. Afternoon tea was provided by the ladies, and in a few appropriate words, Master Allen Old presented Mr. Bullians with a set of gold studs and sleeve links on behalf of tho school children. The stormy weather has had a bad effect on the milk supply at the factory, which is now running on alternate days, i }h\ last notes had the effect of bringing about improvements at the Waitara Road station. I might draw the Railway Department’s attention to another matter while the men are on the job. Sacks of grain, potatoes and other heavy goods are often dumped down at this station, the road to which is on the opposite side of the line. I understand it is against the regulations to back one’s cart over the rails to load these goods, but 1 would like to ask the department how one is to load such without? If the department dumps such goods in the station or on the platform, I think it is only reasonable that they should put a level crossing between the rails so as people can back up to receive these goods.
