Mr. MacßeynoWs and Mrs. 'Dougherty have been nominated as candidates for the Education Board. A Private cablegram Wellington announces the election of Mr. Robert Wynn Williams, solicitor, a native of Auckland, as one of the members for Charters Towers, in the Queensland Parliament. The _ new member is a nephew of Mr. Henry Wynn Williams, of Christchurch. Mr. W. J. Gray, writing to a friend in New Plymouth, says h© arrived at Vancouver on April 4 after a good voyage across the Pacific, and left the {■vime evening by the C.P. line for New York. Travelling across the Rockies he says the scenery is one vast succession of mountain, forest, snow, and streams. One glacier 26 square miles in area was passed, and occasionally a boar trail would be seen. New Zealand butter, he says by the way, was selling in Vancouver at 45 cents per lb. and eggs 75 cents per doz.
