TAHORA.
(From a Correspondent.)
May B.—The settlers of the Tahora district and its environs seems to bo always growling at one thing and another, and rightly so, for the late arrival of the mail owing to the muddy state of the road, and mainly this new idea of sorting the mail at Whanga, causes tho settlers a great loss of time and patience. As Tahora is a terminus office, many of the settlers have a considerable ride before reaching their homes, and in the winter the J at©/'arrival of'the mail means a long ride through the mud in the dark. An enjoyable evening was spent by dancers at the ladies’ social held in the Kohuratahi Hall. The residents of the Tahora district were given a shock when they heard that a man affected by delirium tremens was wandering about the place. One settlor’s place was visited at about 4 a.m. and the inmates rudely awakened by the appearance of this man. He was taken care of last Sunday by Constable Ryan, after wandering around for a couple of days. Frosts have made their appearance, but the days have been warm and fine, and grass is still making progress. The parents df the Tahora children attending school wore not. successful in getting the school made full-time last board meeting, but in the near future this is certain to eventuate.
