THE PETROL FAMINE.
AN ALLEGED CORNER. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, May 5, has changed in connection with the petrol famine except that the quantity of motor fuel available has decreased and the price of the spirit hap increased. The lowest price quoted is 40s,'hut some firms are obtaining 465. Ono or two care have been laid up, but the number of cars has not changed' 'appreciably. One of the difficulties of the position is the amateur financier who has been operating in petrol. A number of private people who received' information of the approaching shortage £ week or so ago invested in petrol, buying for a rise. Thes'e' amateur manipulators are now holding for greater profits. ' .
