The following is Mr. Newton King’s weekly report—
On Friday, 12th, at my Wahvakaiho yards, there was a good yarding and attendance. Bidding throughout was dull. Atixcd wcancrs brought £1 3s to £1 ss, weaner steers £1 Is, 15 to 20months heifers in calf £3 6s to £3 12s, poor £2 12s to £2 18s 6d, empty heifers £3 5s 6d, 15-months steers (poor) £2, store cows £1 17s 6d to £3 2s 6d, forward cows £3 6s to £3 15s, fat cows £4 T4s_to £4 16s 6d, cows in milk £3 Is to £5 7s 6d, cows (late calvers and poor) £2 12s 6d to £4 17s 6d, bullocks £4 19s, bull £1 16s to £3 7s/ fat lambs 10s 6d, lambs (good) 6s Bd, f.m. owes 4e 6d. At Urenui on Monday I had a fair entry of cattle, the demand being best for steers and good store, and forward cows. Mixed weaners brought £1 5s 6d, •weaner heifers £1 4s 6d, weaner steers 14s to £1 2s, 20-months steers £3 to £3 10s, poor £2 6s 6d, 2 to 2i-year steers £3 16s to £4 12s 6d, 20-months heifers £3 os to £4, according to .quality, 3)-year bullocks £5 7s, bulls £2 15s to £3 15s, store cows £2 12s to £3 11s, forward cows £3 16s to £4 4s, fat heifers and cows £5 4s, cows and calves £4, dairy cows £4 10s to £4 15s. . At Toko on the same day there was only a small yarding, which sold as follows:—Store cows £2 19s to '£3 14s, small £2 3s 6d, 18-months heifers (R.W.8.) £3 3s, yearling bull £1 15s 6d, bulls £1 15s, 15-months steers £2 6s 6d, weaner heifers £1 Bs, lambs 4s, ■ ’ In my. Stratford yards on Tuesday there was a big yarding of stock and a very largo attendance. Buyers were present from all parts of Taranaki, and there was a good demand for all classes, especially for good 3j-year bullocks and store cows. The last draft of 80 odd bullocks from the Nukuhakere station were of excellent quality and mot with good competition, realising £6 5s and £6 7s. Good weaners sold at improved rates. Prices realised w’ere; Mixed weaners, best £1 4s 6d to £1 9s 6d, poor 18s to £1 Is 6d, weaner heifers £1 13s to £2 10s, 20-months heifers in calf £3 Is to £3 2s 6d, 2-year heifers (small) £3 11s to £3 16s, stags £3 7s 6d, 20-months steers £2 2s 6d to £2 10s, 2-vear steers £4, 3}-yoar bullocks £6 7s, £6 ss, £5 15s, £5 ss, £5 3s, £5 2s, store cows £2 8s to £3 3s, forward cows £3 11s to £4 3s, fat cows £5 Is to £5 19s, bulls £2 2s, cows in milk £6 2s 6d, springing heifers £6 10s. At Stony River on Wednesday I had a small yarding but a good attendance and 1 demand, practically everything being cleared at the hammer at the following rates:—Jersey weaner heifers £2 3s 6d, 20-months steers £2 9s to £3 7s 6d, 2-year steers £4, 20-months heifers in calf’(small) £3 Is, 2J-year in calf heifers £5 ss, store cowg £2 to £3 Is, forward cows £3 8s to £4 ss, bulls £1 os to £3 16s, dairy cows £4 os to £5. During the week I have sold privately a large number of stock at the following rates:—Best weaners £1 15s to £2 os 6d, others £1 7s to £1 12s, 20-months steers £3 to £3 10s, coloured £2 9s, 2J-year steers £4 2s 6d to £4 7s 6d. bulls £3, store cows £3 10s, forward cows' £4 3s 6d to £4 10s, fat cows £5 to £5 10s, cows and calves £4 3s 6d,
empty 20-montlis heifers £3 5s to £3 7s 6d, 20-months coloured in calf heifers £4 12s 6d, £4 10s. £4 Ss ; £4 2s 6d, £4, 21-vear Jersey-Shorthorn heifers £i 10s, grades £5 Ss to £5, fat bullocks £9, £B, 3j-yoar bullocks £o 15s, lambs is, 4-tooth wethers 13s 6d, 2-tooth wethers 12s 9d, fat ewes 13s lOd. 2-tooth ewes 11b 6d, 11s 9d, mixed ewes 5s- 2d to 9s 2d.
