SWIMMING.

CHAMPION’S DEPARTURE. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, April 20. A meeting of the Now Zealand Swimming Council in conjunction with, the Christchurch Centro was held to-day to consider the difficulty regarding Champion’s departure. The council secretary stated that the difficulty was solely due to the demand of the Olympic council, Wellington, for a guarantee of £1(10. Auckland had guaranteed all expenses, but apparently this was insufficient. However, Mr. George Harris had givqp his personal guarantee of £SO, and he understood that Champion would get away to-day. The centre decided to take steps to at once raise the amount of Mr. Harris’ guarantee.
