The 1912 football season was opened yesterday, when the first Hound of senior matches began. The weather was favourable, but the attendances were not particularly good. Players naturally showed some lack of form. Rugby senior results; Petone beat Poneke by_B points to 3; Melrose beat Southern by 14 points to nil; St. James beat- Old Boys by 29 points to nil; Oriental beat Victoria College by 12 points to 3; Athletic beat Wellington by 22 points to 6.
