Sir William Hall-Jones distributed £2453 in the districts where tho strike distress is most acute, this sum having' been raised mpstly by newspapers’ subscriptions. A FATAL FIRE. LONDON, April 20. A shoemaker’s shop at Chelsea has been burnt down. Four septuagenarians were incinerated. COMMITTED FOR TRIAL. LONDON, April 20. Tebbitt has been committed for trial for firing a revolver at Mr, Rothschild. He resented the suggestion that he was insane, and stated that lie would fully explain his motives, which were mainly political, when he was tried.
