WARNER’S HEALTH GOOD. By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright * LONDON, April 10. A specialist has assured "Warner that he can safely play during the forthcoming season. ELTHAM v. WANGANUI. At Tanmata Park on Saturday a Wanganui eleven played a match against a local team, who were assisted by Dunlop and Barry (Stratford) and Whalen (Okaiawa). The scores were low on both sides, and batting tediously slow, Slinger sending down 18 overs for 22 runs and 4 wickets; and Dunlop and Walker each trundled 12 overs for 17 and 11 runs respectively. Wanganui batted first, 79 being the total at the close of the innings. This was only considered a fair score, and it was believed the home team would have no difficulty in passing these figures. This conclusion was erroneous, as after the first wicket fell Kltham never had a possible chance of winning, as L. P. Cave’s bowling was too good for the batsmen, who were lost against the Wanganui fast bowler, who had a turf wicket that suited him down to the ground. It was a sorry procession of batsmen that faced him. and his comrades, the net result of Eltham’s batting being 47 runs. Detailed scores: WANGANUI. L. P. Cave, c. Dunlop, b. Slinger ... 3 H. B.
