AUSTRALIAN RACING. • By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. J SYDNEY, April 10. After rain in the forenoon, the weather turned fair, but dull. The course was a trifle heavy. The attendance was large. The following are the details of the racing : Second Hurdle Handicap, about 21 miles.—Zoeholme 1. Dinyah 2, Pakau 3. Six hojses started. The winner took charge at the back, and was never overhauled, winning by eight lengths, with Pakau ten lengths away. Time, smi 9.',sec. All-aged Stakes. 1 mile.—Malt King 1, Lady Medallist 2. Volsloane 3. Daunixs, Aurofodina, Popinjay, Cisco, VVilari and Wolawa also started. From a good start Wolawa was first to show out. At the half mile post he was half a length in front of Volsloane, Lady Medallist and Popinjay. At the three furlong past Wolawa and Vol.sloane were together in front of Lady Medallist and Popinjay. Before reaching the turn Wolowa retired, and Volsloane and Lady Medallist rounded the turn together and led into the straight. Malt King, coming fast, joined the leaders at the distance and finished strongly, beating Lady Medallist by four lengths, with Volsloane five lengths behind. Then came Aurofodina, Dnunus and Wolawa. Time, Imin 44scc. Cogee Handicap, 1 mile and a fur.long,—Alibi 1, Wassail 2, Kuringai 3.. Fourteen horses started. Sunlike and Alibi made the running to the straight, where Alibi came on and won by four c lengths, with half a length between second and third. Time, Imin 59$scc. Easter Stakes, 7 furlongs.—Symetus ] 1, Cuneowa 2, Darios 3. Fourteen .f horses started. Golden Hop was the * quickest away, but Symetus soon took charge, and was never headed, winning by a length, with half a length £ between second and third. Time, j Imin 33^see. Cumberland Stakes. 2 miles.—Trail falgar 1. Eyeglass 2. .Saxonite 3. The ’ only starter. Trafalgar was away first, and followed by Eyeglass and I Saxonite. Passing the judge’s box Trafalgar led Saxonite by a length, with Eyeglass a length behind. . This j order was maintained round the bend and along tlie back. At the six furlong post, where the pace livened, Trafalgar had half a length advantage from Saxonite. who was a length ahead of Eyeglass, who closed up at the turn. Once fairly on the way for home the champion came away and won by four lengths. Saxonite ran wide and was three lengths away. No time was taken, owing to the stoppage of the clock. City Handicap, 1 mile and 5 furlongs. —Dorando 1, Matoureo 2, Woad 3. Eleven horses started. A good finish. Won by a length. Time, 2rain 57}sec. WESTLAND RACING CLUBPer Press Association. HOKITIKA. April 10. The Westland Racing Club’s autumn meeting began in splendid weather. There was a good attendance. The sum of £5120, against £4280 for the first day last April, was put through the totalisator.
