Bran and pollard, 13d. Oats, 2s 7d. TIMARU WOOL SALES. Per Press Association. TIMARU, Dec. 15. The second wool sale to-day was attended by a record number of buyers tor T imam. Seven thousand six hundred bales were offered, as compared with 10A)00 at the second sale last year. The wool was of better quality than at the first sale, and there was keen competition, nearly every lot being sold at prices satisfactory to vendors. The bulk was crossbred, suitable for tho Yorkshire mills. Most of tho best halfbred was bought by colonial mills at 103 d to HR], the latter being tho top price at the sale. Medium halfbred mad© 9Jd to 10id, inferior 83d to 91<I. Compared with the Christchurch sale, tho prices were slightly higher for like classes of wool.

MR. NEWTON KING. following is Mr. Newton King’s weekly report: On Friday, Sth inst., 1 held a successful. sale of pedigree and grade Jerseys on account of Mr. A. Hodgkinson, Takaka, Nelson. The cattle were in very fair condition considering the rough trip up and tho driving about. Bidding was keen for all female slock, but the bulls did not meet with much competition. The top price, 65gns., was paid by Mr. C. Goodson, of Hawera, for the pedigree cow Silver May, and the cow Sweet" Pea XII. went to the same purchaser 'at 57gns. Other prices realised for pedigrees were: Cows 26gns. to 53gns., 2-year heifers 26$ gns. to 39gns., yearling heifers 16igng. to 28$gns., heifer calves 9gns. to 13$ gns., bulls Bgus. to lugns., yearling bulls 3sgns. to 13$gus., grade cows £S 15s, grade heifers £3 10s to £9 ss, grade yearling bull £2 15s. At Uronui on Monday I had a good yarding at my fortnightly sale, and a good attendance of the public. • Bidding was best for 18-months steers and 2-year heifers. Fifteen to 18-months steers made £2 16s to £2 ISs, 15 to 18-months heifers (grade) £2 12s to £2 14s. On the same day at my ordinary Stratford sale I had a good muster and an improved attendance, notwithstanding'the wretched weather. Fifteen to 18-months steers and heifers mot with good competition at the hammer, and sold at better values than at recent sales. Two pons of good conditioned 3- bullocks sold under the hammer at £6 3s, yearlings (mixed, poor) 21s to 355, 15 to 18-months heifers £2 IDs to £3 5s 6d, 15 to 18-months steers £2 12s 6d to £3 3s, empty 2-year heifers (poor) £3 10s, 2-ycar steers £4 2s Cd, store rows 31s 6d to £2 16s, forward cows £3 10s to £4 5s 6d, fat cows £4 17s 6d to £6 3s, fat heifers £4 16s, bulls £2 to £3, grade Holstein bulls £4 7s 6d to £5. At Stony River on Wednesday I had a good yarding of good-conditioned cattle. The inquiry was good for 15 to 18-months steers and heifers and for 2-year steers. Bidding was also good for store cattle.
