WAITARA WEST ROAD BOARD.

MONTHLY MEETING. At the monthly meeting of the above board, there wore present: Mr. J• Connett- (chairman), Messrs, irench, Surrey, and Turnbull. Correspondence was read from Mr. J. Clark, requesting permission to put in a wooden culvert at his entrance and from Mr.'J. Rurdie stating that he had no objection to surface water being turned over his property from Waitara Road lower down than the present entrance. The chairman reported that Mr. F. Hoskin had agreed to accept 8:1 per yard royalty on metal taken from his pit, but wished the ixiard to that contractors left the road to pit in docent order; also that Mr. MontotiOie would allow the hoard to take metal from tho railway pit for repairs to Lower Tc Arci and It rown Hoards. . Mr, French reported that Haskell and Co. would supply balance of racial required on Upper To Arci Road at 4s Gd per vard, wnich was accepted. Surfaceman Palmer reported that during the past month had been engaged in forming the Kairau and York Hoards, the roadgrader having been two days on each. Tho metal for Repairs, to Cross Road, neon procured, and, metal for repairing Waitarn Road would bo carted out next week. Surfaceman Giddy reported that 88 chains on Wortlcy Road had been formed with roadgrader at n cot?t of £8 7b 6d, and the grading o Corbett Road had been commenced; tho cutting on Ackworth Rond had been formed, and a portion of Richmond Road.at .end,,of tho m*tal. Tho motal authorised for repairs to Manntalii West Road, would not be sufficient, as the metal had cut out badly. Tho Chairman will interview, Mr. Atkinson re extra motal required on Manilla hi West Road, tho, latter having offered to' collect subscriptions towards cost of same from those interested. Messrs. Surrey and Turnbull were authorised to expend anv money which may bo collected for repairs to Cross Road on grading the road. It was resolved to take up tho pipes across tho Tc Arci Road by Herrick’s, also to form tho hill on Tikqrangi Road as soon , as the contractor had finished carting metal for Cross Road. Tho surfaceman was directed to fioe that the contractors carting stone for the Waitara Borough Council, over the Karaka Road kept to the terms of their agreement ro keeping road in repair. The pipe culverts on Kelly Road deviation were reported to be blocked, and the surfaceman was directed to clear rame, and also to fill in'over tho cul--erts which wore exposed. Complaint iving been made with regard to trees .orhanging the Cross and To Arci loads, the clerk was instructed to ropiest that they bo cut back.

Accounts were passed for payment and-the board adjourned. ■
