A .DISTRESSING FATALITY, Rer-iPjoss-Association. .AUCKLAND, Nov.. 15. A shocking accident occurred jesterday afternoon at Lake Road railway station, between Te Awamutu and Ohaujio, resulting in the almost instantaneous death of Jack Burke, a young and highly respected settler residing at Kio Kio, a few miles from To Awamutu.. Biirko was returning home by train from tho Ohaupo cattle sale, and was breaking tho journey at Lake Road station. Before tho train had fully pulletf up he jumped on to the platform and was thrown under tho carriage, his body being almost severed near the thighs. The victim leaves a young widow, married about eighteen months ago, and a, child two months old. His relatives aa*o, well known 'n the Taranaki district.

HEART FAILURE. DUNEDIN, Nov. 14. While engaged in discharging cargo from , tho Whakatane this afternoon, John Gesty, a married man, residing in Leith Street, was overtaken by heart seizure, and expired before a medical man arrived. Deceased was recently treated for heart trouble. A BUSH FATALITY. AUCKLAND, Nov. 14. Constable Wade, of Kawhia, telegraphed to headquarters this afternoon that a Native, Tami Rangi, was accidentally killed in the bush to-day at Awaroa. A MYSTERIOUS' DEATH." GISBORNE, Nov. 14. James Kennedy, aged 30 or 32 years, was found dead in his tent at Raukauroa, near Gisborne, this morning. The information received goes to show that the cause of death is somewhat mysterious. Deceased was a navvy, and has been working on the railway line for some considerable time. He went to Raukauroa post office last night fo rhis mail, and then appeared to be in his usual good health, as he made no complaints of being unwell, and when last seen, about midnight, by some .of his camp mates he_ was all right. Deceased, who was a single man, slept in a tent -by himself, where ho was found dead at six o’clock this morning. This afternoon the body was said to be turning black.
