Baron Leopold d’Avillier, a millionaire, philanthropist, was knocked down by a motor car and taken to the common accident ward of the Beaujon Hospital. His identity was not suspected, and he died the same day without a friend or relative near. INDIAN POLICE MURDERED. CALCUTTA, July 14. For three days forest fires have been raging in Michigan. Seven persons are known to be dead and scores are missing. The loss is estimated at £2,000,000. An area of 1000 square miles was swept by the flames.
