PETROLEUM.
TARANAKI COMPANY. There has been a largo number of visitors during tho la&t fow clays to tho works of the Taranaki Petroleum Company and general surprise is expressed at tlie very satisfactory developments. Nos. 2 and 3 wells arc both flowing. Drilling operations at Nos. 3 and 5 wore resumed tnis morning and tho work of cloaming out No. 1 boro has also been put in hand. Mr. Clarke of the Government Geological Department, was a visitor to tho works this morning.
