WRITE ISLAND RADIUM.

AN OLD STORY. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Feb. 11. Regarding Tho White Island radium, a telegram to Mr. Andrew Gray, owner of the island, furnishes the following information:—“l have had no direct communication from the Cavendish Laboratory, but have had a letter from Mr. H. Galbraith, late of Auckland, stating that a sample of the White Island lake water obtained by courtesy of Mr. Alexander, an Auckland solicitor, while on a yachting cruise, has been examined at Cambridge by the Hon. R. J. Strutt, Professor of Physics. This sample showed slight traces in solids of radium. This was in 1907, when radium was loss valuable. I telegraphed . to a friend to try ,to get a jar of water 1 during an excursion to-day from Opptiki and I presume this got about, and inspired the Auckland message published to-night.”
