A FASHIONABLE WEDDING.

JOHNSTON—VAVASOUR. Much interest was displayed, Abe Blenheim correspondent of tbo New, Zealand Times writes, in a fashionable wedding which took place at the residence of Mr. H. U. Vavasour, Ugbrooke, on Saturday, February o, When Miss Gwcndolona Mary Vavasour, eldest daughter of Mr. H. D. Vavasour, of Ugbrooke, Marlborough, was married to Mr. lan Featherston Johnston, sixth son of Hon. C. J. Johnston, of Homewood, Karori, Wellington. The ceremony was performed by Archbishop Redwood, assisted by Rov. Fathers Holley and Fay, Nuptial Mass being celebrated. The marriage took place in a private chapel, specially erected in the residence, and decorated with white and green art muslin. The bndo was •riven away by her father, and attned in a handsome imported frock of white duohesse satin, with pretty square -yoke composed of silver embroidery, a border of the same embroidery being round the skirt and on .the court tram. A soft tulle veil prettily arranged with the aid of orange blossoms completed a handsome bridal toilette. The bridesmaids were eight in number, namely, Misses Blanche Vavasour (sister of the bride), Doris Johnston (sister of bridegroom), Nancy Johnston (cousin), Belle Griffiths, and four smaller bridesmaids, Pearl and Betty Vavasour (sisters), Susie Duncan (niece of bridegroom), and’ Gwendoline Griffiths. The four elder bridesmaids were all attired in heliotrope ninou princess dresses on foundation of taffeta silk covered with chiffon, drawn into a pouch about 18 inches from hem, with heliotrope ribbon, ami finished with rosettes of the sanio. They wore heliotrope hats in the new picture shano, lined with silver and trimmed with blue and pink flowers, with large silver how on back. All carried sheaves composed of shaded hydrangeas._ The quartette of little girls wore heliotrope ninon drosses, made exactly like those worn by their elders, and looked vary quaint.' All carried delicately arranged bouquets of mauve sweet pas. Mr. Octavus Johnston, youngest brother of the bridegroom, was best man, and Messrs. George Vavasour, T. Grace (Wellington). Beetham (Wairarapa), and Dr. Gribhin (Christchurch) wore groomsmen. '
