THE RUGBY GAME. TARANAKI v. SOUTH AUCKLAND. The match, Taranaki ▼. South Auckland, which was won by Taranaki by 9 points to 3, was not particularly interesting to onlookers, but was stubbornly contested. Taranaki, who were without the services of Mynott, showed superiority in the finer points of the game, more particularly in pushing home the attack, the failure in this essential point being the outstanding weakness of the South Auckland fifteen, says the special correspondent of the Auckland Herald. On the line-out, in the scrnminaguig|, and loose, the' Auckland forwards quite held their own with the amber and black; vanguard, but the sound defence of the Taranaki backs, counted with faultvJiandling by the Auckland rearguard, # neutralised; advantages frequently gaine3 by the latter's forwards. Taranaki was first to score, a passing rush amongst the backs' ending in B. Stphr crossing the fine. Cameron failed with the kick-. The home team later equalled the score, but a few minutes later Cameron scored for Taranaki^ No goal. Taranaki's next seoro came in a gpal from • mark, which was kicked by Cameron.
