HIS NEW ZEALAND CAREER.

Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, April 2. In reference to the Sydney cable message, telling of a desperate robber named John Frederick Crook, who came from New" Zealand it is pointed out that Crook entered on his criminal career at an early age. He is only 23 years of age, but five years ago he was convicted of a serious crime, being sentenced to nine months' imprisonment for entering the premises of'*Warnock and Adkin, Wellington, and stealing £50 worth of drapery. Iri December, 1905, he was sent to gaol on three charges of theft, but escaped from custody in the following month, for which he received an additional six months. He was liberated from Lyttelton gaol last month. He is a native of London and a seaman by calling.
