Messrs. Young, Hobbs and Co., Stratford, report: At Stratford on Wednesday, 1/tn, wo held our usual fortnightly sale. The advertised number of cattle came forward, but prices were inclined to drag, several pens failing to reach reserves. Forward cows made from £2 19s to £3 2s 6d, store cows 34s to 365, boners 12s to 15s, fifteen-month steers 35s to 425, weanor steers (good). dUs to 41s, ewes sb. ''At Kaponga on Friday, 19th, we held our usual sale to a full yarding, of which most were quitted at satisfactory prices, especially well-conditioned and fat cows. Fat cows £3 10s to £4 5s fresh and forward cows 45s to 655, stores 30s to 41s, boners 15s to 22s weaners made 8s 6d to 14s, bulls £2 11s, weaner pigs 10s, cull ewes 3s 9d to 4s Id. On Tuesday, March 16, we held our wool, skin, hide and tallow sale. We handled a good catalogue of all descriptions. Buyers were in attendance from all parts of the Dominion, and prices showed a firm rise irom the previous sale. Wool and sheepskins made a rise of id to *d, hides id to |d. while tallow maintained Late rates. We quote: Hides.— Butchers' cow (light) 4§d to 51d butchers' cow (medium) 1 sjUl to 6id light or 4fd to 5Jd. settlers' cow 4*d' to sid, yearlings 3|d to 3*d. cut cow 4sd to 4£d. slippy 3d to 3*d. Wool.— Lambs' 4Jd to 6id, crutchings 2d to 3|d, fleece sid to 6£d, dead 3Jd to s£d, pieces 3}d to 4Jd, locks 2id to 3£d- ... .., Sheepskins— Butchers' woollies 4^d to 5Jd, butchers' lambs' 3d to 4|d, short wools 3d to 4|d, pelts Is 6d to Is Bd, salted skins (short wools) Is 5d to Is Bd, part dry skins 8d to Is lOd. Calfskins.— Small 7£d, medium 7gd, cut 3|d, slippy Id, dry 6|d. _ Tallow.— ln casks 22s to 22s 9d, in tins 19s 6d to 21s. Tails Is 2d per doz.
