Resolutions were passed congratulating American "white, ribboners" upon the tremendous strides made, by .the prohibition movement in the United States; sympathising with comrades in the Old Land on the defeat of tho Licensing Bill by the House of Lords; urging that age of ppaioction for girls bo raised to 21 years; that hospital provision be made for persons suffering from venereal diseases and vohmlarialy presenting themselves for treatment; that as restrictions on women's time and labour contained in the Factory Acts are prejudicial to tho interests of the sex, distinction should be abolished; beseeching all Christian Governments to employ arbitration instead of force; affirming that iv all public institutions for the- care of women and children popularly elected Boards of Control should be established composed of both men and women; asking that the time limit as regards I the charges of criminal offences against girls should be abolished; that legal disabilities imposed upon illegitimate children be abolished; offering the principle of equal pay for equal work without distinction of sex; of the referendum and of elective Executive; begging the Britisli Government to assist Chinese to throw off the bondage of the opium traffic and thus wipe off the stain which now lies upon the country in this connection; and expressing deepTTiankf ulness to Almighty God for the splendid results of the late local option poll. The Convention resolved to send Mrs Cole, the New Zealand president, to Sydney to represent it at the Australian Women's Christian Temperance Union Convention to be opened next month.
