(Special to Herald.) AUCKLAND, March 12. Messrs Buckland and Sons report : — Horses.— On Friday at the Haymarket, we had a full yarding, competition for all young useful sorts being keen and active. Young wagon and express class sold at £31 to £43 10s, aged do. £20 10s to £27 10s, buggy and hacks £22 5s to £21 10s, ordinary hacks and gig ponies £3 10s to £9 ss, light harness sorts £7 ss. to £16. A pair of ponies and harness £6, pony phaeton £17 10s, thoroughbreds sold j were: Haldane 59 guineas, Swagsman 13 guineas, Aleger and foal 89 guineas, Bonny Roy 26 guineas, light medium unbroken colts and /fillies 3 to 4 years £8 to £20 10s. At Remuera on Thursday dairy cows of good equality were in strong demand, £7 to £8 7s 6d, for best heifers £6 10s, aged cows to £5 ss, dry cows £1 5s to£3 15s, 20-months steers £2 7s 6d to £3 4s, young fat calves, fair supply, from Is to 345, 90 were sold. There was a moderate yarding of cajfctle mostly of cows. Prices for choice beef were firmer at medium late values. Steers £5 10s to £8 15s, cows £3 to £6 12s 6d. Both mutton and lamb were well represented, and the quality was good right through and the. bidding steady. Recent quotations: Heavy wethers brought 165, t0 17s 3d, lighter weights 10s 6d to 16s, weighty ewes 13s to 14s 9d, others 9s 6d to 12s, 6d ; 13Q9 were sold. Lambs — Best 14s 6d to 16s, smaller 10s to 12s 6d ; 358 were sold.. Pig pens were well filled and showed a decided improvement in value for all kinds; 71 were soldi Hides showed a strong demand. No* stout or .heavy ox hides were catalogued. Ox brought 4}d to 6d, cow 4Jd to sid, call 4Jd to 5Jd, kips 3|d to sd, i damaged hides 2d to 4}d. ' Tallow, 20s to 24s 9d. Horse hair, Is 7|d. Bones, dry, 4s 9d. Skins.— Large 4s 10d to 5s Bd, .good 3s 7d to 4s 4d, medium 2s 6d to 3s Id, small and damaged 9d to 2s 2d, lambs and pelts salted 2s 2d to 3s Id, dry and damaged 3d to Is lid.
