EMPLOYERS' FEDERATION.
Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, Oct. 30. At the annual meeting of the EmSloyers' Association to-day, the presient (Mr .J. C. Thomson) condemned the rushing of legislation and said Ministers should prepare work for the session so that members could get to work at once. He said more perjury was committed in the Arbitration Court in a month than in the Supreme Court in a year, and the worst feature of it was the combined perjury carefully prepared beforehand. He said he could give an instance where a union secretary was deliberately instructing witnesses in a country hotel to swear falsely. Speaking on the cost of living, he said the present standard was far too high. Iv seconding the motion for the :adoption of the report, Mr J. McGregor said the work of foundries was falling off very much of late years owing almost entirely to the increased cost of production. Local foundries were, unable to compote with the Home markets arid were being squeezed out in consequence. Mr Thomson was re-elected president.
