AUCKLAND. Oct. 23. Messrs A. Buckland and Soiid report : - - Horses- At the ilaymarket on Friday there v. as better deniand ior heavy horses than in the past two weeks. Heavy draughts L3l to C l 5. acjjve wag; son and spring cart sorts L 25 to £35 JOs, light harness mares and geldings Cl! to C 25 ss, buggy horses and •"•ood hacks L'ls to C2l, ponies and ordinary hacks L' 4to £9 15s, Shetland ponies £13 to £15. Cattle — At Remuera on Thursday cows near their profit sold at C 2 10s to £6 17s 6(1, according to ajj,e and quality, dry tl 10s to Cl 10s, yearlings (mixed) 35s to -'os, steers to £2 10s, 2 to 3-year steers C 3 K)s to £5 14s, grown sieer's £6- 10s to C 7 ss, calves 2s to 11s. Steers ranged in price from £0 10s to CU ss. cows £3 10s to £7 ss, bulls £4 to £8 7s Gd ; 330 sold.
Sheep — Market firmer right through. Wethers sold at from 16s to £1 2s 3d, shorn 11s 9d to 17s 3d, woolly ewes Us to IDs 6d. shorn 10s Gd to 17s Gd, hoggets 12s (id to 16s 9d. shorn 10.s (id to 12s Gd; 13f)0 sold. Ewes with lambs 17:j Gd each.
Pig^, in moderate numbers, sold at late rates.
