IS THE SURPLUS REAL?
(Received Sept. 25, 8.20 a.m.) LONDON, Sept. 24. The Sydney correspondent of The Times cables that New South Wales' actual snrplns for the year is about £'665,000. He states that the swollen surpluses are stage-managed for show purposes but they only make the State ridiculous. The' surplus of the previonVyear was partly obtained by starving the railways.
