PROTEST FROM MANAWATU.

Per Press Association. PALMERSTON N., August 18. At a meeting of thJe Manawatu Agricultural and Pastoral Association, to-day Mr W.. F. Jacobs, referring to the Shearers* Accommodation BiH, stated that ii was most drastic. It simply meailt that employers would have to find a live-roomed house , for shearers at a cost of over £200 for a few weeks] each yea,r. They would require to find] a dining room and' sleeping rooms for j the shearers, a sleeping^ room, for the cook, a bathroom, and a kitchen. He ntoyed: "Thflt this Association s^r6ngly protests against th« ttncalled-fof y-'atod; if carried, Trill inflict 1 grave hardship and quite unnecessary j expense -on i sbeepowners, especially^ owners of small flocks in having to pro-] vide buildings which are only jneeaedj for a few days each yeai*; and that this Association also respectfully protests against bills of this character, whioh seriously affect the agricultural and pastoral industries, being referred, to the Labour Bills Committed to take! evidence and report on; further, that a copy of the resolution be sent to the Prime -Minister and' the,\M^wter of Labour and tha,t Mr W. ,T. Wood, M.P. for Palmerston, be a§ked, as vice-presi-dent of the Association, to oppose the Bill in Parliament." The motion was' carried unanimously.
