A WELLINGTON, August 14. The .man, knocked down and killed by a tram at Wellington last night, pro/es . to have been Charles Davis, a fisherman, of -Makara. At the incpiest to- „ day the driver of the engine, James Barr, said that just before the accident the fireman, William O'Brien, said to him: "Stop; Jim; there's a man crossing in front of the engine.'* Steam was shirt off, and the brakes were applied. The jury found a verdict that death waa accidental, . no blame, being attachable to the engine-driver or fireman.
