■ ♦i Mr Thomas Underwood, who has been locomotive foreman at the New Plymouth railway station for some years, left by the mail train this morning, having been transferred to Cross Creek. One evening last week Mr Underwood was entertained % a large gathering of the railway staff and presented with a travelling bag. Mr I. Morrison, who presided at the function and made the presentation, made felicitous reference to. the guest. Several other members spoke of the esteem in which Mr Underwood was regarded, and made special reference^ to the entire absence of favouritism in His relations with those whom he had to control. Mr Underwood, in thankmg the staff, said that he very much regretted that he had lo leave New Plymouth.
